Cleve Webber is a tenured Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Graphic Arts and Gallery Curator at Alabama State University. Academic qualifications include: a BFA degree in Fine Arts from Jamaica School of Visual Arts Kingston, Jamaica West Indies; and MA and MFA degrees from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. He has membership in several professional organizations including the Watercolor Society of Alabama and Florida and the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Mr. Webber has exhibited in various solo and group shows since 1979. Webber has received numerous awards and commissions including a fellowship from the Organization of American States. Distinguished collections include Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, USA, and Bob and Rita Marley, Jamaica West Indies. Additional private and public collections include the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Russia, and Venezuela. Inspiration comes from the exploration of the human figure and depicting the theme of dance from an African American and Caribbean perspective emphasizing the illusion of motion.
